If you would like to register at New Road Surgery please complete a registration form. Please note that we can only register you at New Road Surgery if you reside within our boundary area. Unfortunately we do not accept patients who live outside our boundary area, we understand that surgeries can choose to do this but this is optional and we do not do this at New Road Surgery.
Non-urgent advice: Practice Boundary Change with effect from 1/7/2019
we will no longer accept new registration requests from people residing in the following areas: Catshill, Lickey End & Blackwell.
This change has been agreed with NHS England and is as a result of an increased number of patients now registered at the practice.
If your address is outside our boundary and you need help to find a doctor that covers your address you can usually check your post code on the website of the surgery you would like to join. Alternatively you can call one of the following numbers for assistance:
Should you be unable to attend in person, someone can make the registration on you behalf, with your permission. You will register with the practice, not with a particular doctor, but you will be asked to specify your preferred doctor when registering. You may request to see a doctor of choice at the practice, however, there may be delay if you choose to wait to see a particular doctor.
New Patient Information
Non-urgent advice: Polite Notice
At New Road Surgery, we make every effort to provide as many appointment slots as possible. Recently we have noticed an increase in patients failing to cancel appointments they no longer need. This results in wasted appointments and patients having to wait longer to see a doctor.
If you make an appointment and find that you cannot attend, it is essential that you contact the practice to let us know. This helps everyone to be able to see a doctor more quickly. it is practice policy to consider removing patients from our list if they fail to attend to cancel appointments.
Thank you.
Mental Health Services
If you are local and are under the care of Longbridge Mental Health Team, please be aware that if you join this surgery, your care will have to transfer to Worcestershire Mental Health Services.
New Patient Health Check
Newly registered patients aged five and over are invited to attend the surgery for a health check when joining the practice. This includes a brief look at your medical history, details of any medication and advice about health including weight, diet, exercise and blood pressure. Please book your appointment at reception. Please bring a urine sample with you to this appointment.
New Patient Health Questionnaire – we would be grateful if you could complete this form to enable us to update our records.
Named Accountable GP
From 1st April 2015, the practice is required under the terms of their GP contract to allocate a named accountable GP to all patients (including children). The named GP will be responsible for the patients’ overall care at the practice. It is important to note that you will still be able to make your appointment with any GP at the practice.
For new patients, your named GP will be allocated as follows:
– Surname A-M: Dr Kotekar
– Surname N-Z: Dr Hussain
Having a named GP does not prevent you seeing any other doctor in the practice.
You do not need to take any further action, but if you have any questions, or wish to discuss this further with us, please ask reception when you are next at the surgery. if you have a preference as to which GP you are assigned, we will do our best to accommodate your request.
