Getting your test results

If your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you.

Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:

  • in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
  • phone or visit us between 2pm to 6:00pm and we will tell you what the results are

X-Rays

If the doctor asks you to attend hospital for an x-ray you will be given a form to take to the hospital. The doctor will tell you which hospital to attend. Please check department opening times with the relevant hospital, especially over holiday periods.

If you suspect you have a fracture you should attend your local A&E department:

  • X-ray results take at least 5 working days to reach the Practice.

ECGs

ECG (Alexandra Hospital) – the doctor will give you an ECG request form, with telephone details attached, to enable you to make an appointment.

Other Tests

Any samples need to be sent to the hospital by early afternoon, so please bring samples to reception by 12 noon, in the plastic bag provided by the doctor. Evening appointments are generally unsuitable for blood tests, swabs and urine samples.

Please ensure that all urine and faeces samples are placed in an appropriate container, which can be obtained from reception.

Non-urgent advice: Respect for our staff

Please note that if the test result is for an adult we will only give the result to the person to which the test relates – staff are not being obstructive, they are following the doctors instructions relating to patient confidentiality.
